You know that person you see in airports, bus terminals and train stations trying to maneuver too many, too heavy bags?
That would be me.
My almost pathological need to be prepared for EVERYTHING has time and time again trumped my desire to be able to move quickly and easily like a true travel pro.
I’ve dragged a half a dozen books and a pair of unworn wellies to
Ireland.
I’ve carried multiple pair of shoes to
London.
I actually packed an entire duffle bag full of shoes for a one week visit to
Chicago.
It’s a sickness, really. And mind you this is all pre-travel packing.
The return trip with my newly acquired gifts and souvenirs is just ugly.
I was seriously worried whether they were going to let me on the plane for my return trip from
London.
They are serious about that one carry on rule there.
I have tried purchasing packing “helpers”, reading articles on how to pack, what to pack, but I still find myself juggling overstuffed suitcases, totes and bags as I head out the door. I suspect an intervention may be in order before my next planned trip.
That trip is 3 week in Europe in October of 2008. 2 weeks of train rides through (possibly) Eastern Europe, ending with a split week between London and Stratford. I’m already having nightmares of dragging bags through crowded trains, knocking my poor unsuspecting fellow travelers in the shins, head….oh the stares.
Am I beyond help?
